CasaPercussion Dumbek, white wood, tunable (Medium) Overview

The Doumbek or Darabuka (and various other names and spellings!) is a goblet shaped Arabic drum played in the middle east, the Mediterranean region and many other places where there is an Arabic musical influence. The doumbek is capable of producing many different sounds in the hands of a skilled player, however there are two main sounds, called the "dum" and the "tek". The dum is produced by striking the drum in the center and provides a bass note. The tek is a strike at the edge of the drum head, providing a high crisp sound, sometimes with ringing overtones. In recent years these drums have been growing in popularity in the west, with many more people discovering the beauty of Arabic music and the joys of playing the doumbek. This Doumbek is made of white wood.
